Once upon a time I thought I could run this life of mine without truly being myself. It seemed to be working… until I began evaluating.  AND, because answers don’t often come until one has been faced with something that awakens them to true reality…right at the very moment they are feeling, it hasn’t been until lately that answers have come.  I’ve tried being more “professional”, tried worrying less, tried being witty and funny, and tried my darndest to be consistent with all these…etc.  I now realize the only thing I do well at is, simply, being myself. For good or bad, being myself is all I know. AND, for that matter, being who I am in the moment I am in is all that really makes sense. OH…the ramblings.  Life is too short…it moves too fast.  Thus the title, AND they LIVED… it won’t always be “happily ever after”…the more I push for this, the less I can truly live in the now and learn the vital lessons that come with doing so. My NEW, new years goal…and the simple motto for my new found hope for life is simply this…And she lived.

NOW, speaking of living, Miss Kimberlee and Forest are amazing at it. They are fun, witty, openly enjoy eachother, watch out for one another, and truly seem to care deeply for the other. I always enjoy getting to know my wedding clients. I love watching how they interact, getting to know their styles…what their life is like. These two have alot of living ahead of them, and I’m thrilled to be able to capture just a snap of their lives together.

A bit of a softer side of Sears Image. NOTE: still cheezy…still embarrass myself with these amazing young couples I shoot often with my “older than that Momma antics”…

Yes, I know the left one isn’t sharpened right for the web…I’m being lazy and am not going to fix it right now. The “real” one looks just peachy…

A bit of OCF…for a more vibrant edgy feel, without taking away from their natural beauty. Oohhh…you are both darn good looking peoplesssss…

Some of my mostest…favoritestest…images in the whole entire world are the candid moments inbetween shots, if you will, that I later can take and turn into a portrait. There is something so perfect about these moments to me….I adore the sweet looks I can catch when people don’ t think I’m snapping, the feel, the absolute perfection of a glance, a touch…LOVE.

Get your “vintage on”… These sequence of shots was so fun and I can’t wait to show them all together. LOVE the sun peaking around the corner, love the mood, love the bokeh, love love love! You guys rocked these shots…

Fierce, my friends…fierce…

Love Love….

P.S.

Its 11:30 pm, my little man is sitting by my side because he can’t fall asleep…trying to make me guess what he got me for Mother’s Day. He says it starts with a P….so far I have guessed Pcard, Pvase, Pflower, Ppppppppp. Its making him laugh…love his laugh.  What would we ever do without humor with a touch of sarcasm in our home?  Those who know us personally know what I’m talking about. Regardless, someday, someone will sweep him off his feet. Someday I could be taking his engagements portraits. Oh my…not ready to talk about that one yet. For future reference to his “someday sweetheart”…he just told me that something is “stuck in his left nostril”…and that its been there since he’s been in preschool. Hmmm… Now, I must sleep.

This lady truly has it all. She’s extremely smart, witty, fun, driven, insanely beautiful, full of style, and “off the charts” talented!  She brought her own blanket that she made to incorporate into our shoot. She kindly knitted me some fabulous new props, and she’s sewing yet another fabulously amazing quilt right now. She’s already running half marathons and can play just about any sport she wants. AND…the coolest part about her…she doesn’t get into all the “high school fluff”…if you will. She is totally level headed and doesn’t let others affect her goals and dreams. All that being said, it was a pleasure spending a few hours with you, Miss Brynn, as the sun set on my little mountain home. For now, just two…but as always, more to come… (Updated….HERE THEY ARE!)

LOVE the soft glow of the setting sun on your tan skin. I WISH I could go back to those days…you’re absolutely stunning. Truly stunning…

AND,  for my fellow photographers, I’ll have a few “pullbacks” coming soon for a simple outdoor reflector setup. Its nothing fancy…but if you’re like me, visual is a must to learning. Happy Weekend…

He’s always got a plan. He knows exactly what he’ll do when a storm comes, if the lights go off, when he needs something. He’s my little thinker. Often I watch him as he tries to get his words out that are swirling around in his mind. He wants to think about them first, plan the “just right words”…but when he finds them, you can’t keep him quiet. He is tender, sweet and loves to cuddle. But, he’s still all boy. He’s a perfectionist and loves science. He has the best smile on the face of the earth and he melts my heart daily. Adore him…doesn’t even come close to how I feel for this little man.  For now,  just one of the boy I love….

SOOOOOOO many more to come. (Yep, I know the soooooooo is cheezy…its because I am cheezy…fully admitt it)! You two, what can I say, you’re a fabulous couple. Thank you for being patient with me and Mother Nature!  She decided to let the wind pick up right when we got to our little nook of the forest and give me and my equipment a run for its money.  These two were fabulous to work with though!  AND, bonus… they didn’t even mock my cheezy commentary of each shot. I have issues with saying what’s going through my brain in a bit more candid, uncensored way at shoots sometimes. I might look calm on the outside, but I have about 30 different things running through my brain at all times. Settings, ISO, Aperture, exposure, backlight, balancing flash with ambient, hold that darn camera still, rule of thirds, composition, angles,  shutter speed, colors, outfits, OCF or soft natural light, clear uncluttered backgrounds, mood, soft and blurry background, crisp and rich, move the hair, tuck the shirt, straighten the skirt, stand this way, move your arm, swivel the hips, oh dang wind, use this prop, too posed…make them look more natural, they’re hungry and want to go, the list of shots she wants,  sun….oh no…sun is almost setting, don’t let them know this is really hard work…make it fun, keep the mood light, make them laugh…and DON’T say anything too cheezy…DON’T say ANYTHING too CHEEZY…etc. etc. etc!  There’s a small taste of 1 literal minute in my brain at a formal shoot! I wish it was as easy as “click that camera…and we’re done”.  Oh wait, no I don’t…I adore challenges! I’m partially sick in the brain because of that portion of my personality. Regardless, as in any walk of life, there are alot that can “talk the talk”, what should be  done and how, but the true test of goodness is if one can truly use their skills in high pressure, on the spot, imperfect situations.  There are too many variables to mention of what can “go wrong” at a shoot.  The key, taking that “wrong” you cannot control (the wind)  and making it work for you or finding away around it. I guess that’s why we hire professionals for the things that matter most to us.  Hmmm…we’ll see if I can actually “walk the walk”… Anyway, I have so much more to share with the two of you in the next few days! I love the “feel” of the whole shoot. Truly, so many different “feels” and “styles” to choose from.

P.S. Forest is from Montana….he said the wind was “nothing compared to Montana wind…!”  Dear Montana Photographers, I’m sorry…

Quick update on summer bookings: I am almost fully booked for the summer. I have a few senior sessions and family sessions open for the months of June and August. I also have one more space for weddings this summer. I’ve had to turn away a few already because their date was taken by another wedding….makes me sad.  I’ve decided to limit my availability this summer because it really helps me to focus solely on “your shoot” as well as give me the time I want and need with my sweet family that I miss alot during this “busy season”. There are quite alot of people who have told me to “save them a place” for the summer shoots, but haven’t secured their date yet. Shoot me an email in the next week so I can make sure I don’t give your spot away. Thanks!
